In the 10th century after Christ the island was completely destroyed by the Arabs, but was quickly repopulated and later, the Venetians conquered the island and made it part of the duchy of the Cyclades where Naxos was the capital.During the Turkish occupation, although heavy taxation was imposed on the Parians , there was religious freedom and this resulted to the numerous Orthodox monasteries and Churches that are found around the island.In modern times, Paros joined her strength with the rest of Greece, in the struggle to support Peace,Democracy,freedom and the development of culture,in search for a better tomorrow.Scopas was one of the famous sculptures in Cyclades and so far a lot of his work is in the museum.
